"Return of the Light" is a history describing the triumph of light over darkness beginning with a little flame in some young, brave heart. This album is special with tightly joined instrumental accompaniment and lyrics in all of the songs. Everyone who will acquire this CD will be able to perform the songs in a karaoke version.

In addition, the CD will be suitable for various collectives and performers to include in their repertoire. On the CD you will hear the boys' choir of the Jāzeps Mediņš Music School (conductor Romans Vanags) and soloists: Ance Krauze (The Light), Martins Freimanis (The Darkness) and Zigfrids Muktupavels (The Storyteller).

From the author of the lyrics: "Inspiration for creation of this musical piece came from conductor Romans Vanags and Rita Platpere, choral music specialist for the State Center of Young People. A new, yet unutilized, repertoire was selected in preparation for the 7th Latvian Boys' Choirs' gathering. Boys' choir gatherings give the new choristers the opportunity to come together on the same stage with musicians they already know, making this annual meeting a special and unforgettable event. The complete premiere of the musical piece took place in May 31, 2003 in the city of Cesis. There were 1700 little choristers, a band of "Viva" dances from Cesis, and well-known soloists Ance Krauze, Martins Freimanis and Zigfrids Muktupavels all on one stage.

The idea of eternal light versus darkness, including everything that goes with those ideas, appeared at once. This was especially poignant knowing that the very day of the premiere a complete solar eclipse would be visible in Latvia! In the recording studio musical materials were improved and are now released for your use and enjoyment. Our hope is that a small flame, which the darkest darkness can not swallow, will burn in your hearts. May a little ember of this flame always remain so that once again it might ignite a large and salutary light that you can liberate and give to others.”
